Project Summary
This project involved constructing access tracks, drill pads and sumps for a proposed iron ore mine. The project demonstrates Yilgarn Contracting’s ability to work in challenging, rugged terrain while maintaining environmental compliance.
Key Activities
Yilgarn Contracting provided full supervision, a fleet of fully maintained earthmoving equipment, skilled plant operators, and comprehensive maintenance facilities.
Key activities included:
- Operating GPS D8T Dozers and GPS Cat 336 Excavators, equipped with rock-breakers.
- Constructing access tracks and drill pads in steep and challenging terrain.
- Ensuring we minimised the potential for environmental impact by strictly adhering to site disturbance permits, which required minimal environmental disruption during construction.
Achievements
The project’s primary challenge was the operation of dozers and excavators/rock breakers in steep, remote, and challenging terrain. Our team was required to demonstrate precise skills to meet the strict operating tolerances contained within the site disturbance permits. Not only did they achieve these tolerances, but the client congratulated our team for meeting program requirements and completing the job without a non-conformance.
